It was interesting for me, because I’d only just made sci-fi movies at that point I wanted to try something more realistic.” (Thanks to CoS for the transcription.) “There were months and months of script meetings – there were rooftop motorcycle chases, but we ended up in a grittier vibe. We wanted to work hard to get it right, and not make it about something that wasn’t just about rape – a lot of these urban stories are about that. So, we were all actually in different studios and we all played our parts. They said ‘can we use the other guys too?’ And I said ‘We were all there, the four of us, when those songs were written so now that it’s coming full circle and going in a different direction, I’m like ‘yeah, let’s all get back together.’ It was kind of strange but because of technology now you can be together but not together, you know. How did that come about?Ī: To me, (recording with an orchestra) was one of the furthest things from my mind. It was the first studio recording with you four since 1984. Q: In 2018, the four original Flock of Seagulls band members did a recording (of some of their hit songs) with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. I used to wake up in the morning and say ‘today I’m going to write a song’ and I didn’t know what would come out. And because they wrote such different songs all the time, I think that also put in me as a writer that you can write about anything. You had to be up there trying to reach that kind of level. You really felt like you had to do something good. Of course you are from Liverpool and the Beatles are from Liverpool so I’m wondering how much they might have influenced you?Ī: I think it was a total influence because coming from Liverpool and having the Beatles being the biggest band in the world and the best band in the world. Q: I can remember people really enjoying (A Flock of Seagulls) because it was new and it was different and it was probably like the way people felt in the early 60s when they first heard the Beatles. So, thank you U-2 for stealing our stuff (laughs). He says once he listened to what we were doing he picked it up and enhanced it into U-2 stuff. U-2 was kind of…Ī: Well, if you read (U-2 guitarist) the Edge’s book, he actually says he got his sound from listening to us. We had never heard anything like it in the early 80s. Even in our first few months together, we were developing our own look and our own sound. Once we got into that a little bit, it became more about writing songs of our own than trying to sound like other bands. I actually used to like the sound of it out of tune because I could write songs that were different. It took me about a year to learn how to tune a guitar. I’d look up on stage and go ‘I could do that.’ I got with my brother (Ali Score) and he said ‘oh, I’d like to be a drummer.’ I got with a couple of friends (including Paul Reynold on guitar and Frank Maudsley on bass) and we started jamming. I got talking to them and started to go see them play live. So, when I got into hairdressing, people from bands would come in and want hair colors and stuff like that. So, I’d be riding around, singing along, delivering papers. I used to have a little transistor radio on my bike blasting out the top 40 and stuff. Question: How did you go from being a hairdresser to a musician and recording artist?Īnswer: I’ve always been interested in music even when I used to do my paper route when I was about (age) 12. ![]() The interview has been edited for length and clarity. You might find it pretty hard to get 3 Stars here. ![]() Since pressing a green button switches the rooms, it doesn't matter which one you press unless you specifically want one room on the left or right for whatever reason. Grab some stuff out of the two rooms that start off on your sides, and then press one of the green buttons when you're ready to switch them, just make sure a player doesn't get stuck in one of these rooms. The menu consists of both soup and burgers, and the ingredients, plates, and conveyors are all in the other rooms on the outside of the main one. This will allow you to put the pot back by the cutting boards when you're done with it. When the soup is ready to go, take it with you in the pot to the right side and put it in an empty plate. The cooks should take a pot each and bring them back to the cutting tables that way, they can put the cut vegetables in the pot without having to cross yet another ice gap, and they'll only have to move to the stoves when they actually have soup ready to be heated. As for figuring out what to do, try to bring a mushroom and onion each to the other side of the kitchen and cut them up, then leave them (or take one if the first order calls for it) and put it in the pot in the upper left corner. ![]() Now you have to deal with two streams of ice moving in opposite directions, and shaped in a few different patterns. That was the case for my friend and me, so it can't be too outlandish to replicate our skill in the game if you've made it this far already. You should hopefully get 3 Stars on your first try. Only when a current order is in progress should ingredients be passed back to the cook with the cutting boards. ![]() The level is actually pretty simple, as the only rule of thumb to keep in mind is that the cook without cutting boards should be the one prepping stew. While it is possible to have a cook on one side slip through the cracks of the moving counters on the left, that'd be one of the worst moves you could make in regards to trying to actually score high. Instead of having things move only left and right, the strip of countertop with the cutting boards on it move up and down too, as well as two panels on the left side, but those don't really matter all too much.
